One
fine day in the fall of 1876, Mrs. Hettie Austin, a small, petite
lady was traveling around the new community of DeLand in a two
wheeled ox cart trying to raise the funds to build a church.
She came across Henry DeLand; he gave her the land and a thousand
dollars for the material to build it with on the Boulevard contingent
upon it also being used as a school. |
