There are many
available development sites located throughout the DeLand area. The sites include the
DeLand Business and Industrial Park and the DeLand Airport Industrial Park. The DeLand
Airport Industrial Park is divided into three separate park enviroments: DeLand
Industries, DeLand Aeronautical and Technical Park and DeLand Enterprises.
DeLand Industries is made up
of many incubator buildings for beginning businesses. This area has several pre-permitted
sites ready for construction. DeLand Aeronautical and Technical Park, has been created for
upscale, high tech firms. The third park is DeLand Enterprise, which is for firms needing
larger tracts of land for heavy industry. This area revolves around a 270,000 square foot
industrial complex which houses Brunswick Defense.
The three park concept gives
DeLand an edge over many industrial park enviroments in central Florida. In addition,
commercial property is priced well below national averages and there are many prime
business locations available in the city as well as in the outlying area. Similarly, the
cost of commercial construction is quite reasonable. Once construction is complete, you'll
find the cost of operation is moderate. Also, utility services are reliable and moderately
priced.
Florida Power Corporation has
developed an aggressive rate schedule that attracts users to DeLand, over many other sites
in the South. Housing costs run 15% to 60% below major metropolitan areas. Taxes are also
moderate compared to most parts of the country. Florida is a right-to-work state and has
no state income tax.
